Jonathan Clerke is an Australian author, speaker, and former physiotherapist with more than thirty years of professional experience working with people facing physical pain, trauma, and psychological suffering. He holds degrees in physiotherapy and science from the University of Queensland, including honours in parasitology, and has published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including the Journal of Hand Therapy and the American Journal of Occupational Therapy.
Jonathan’s scientific training fostered a deep commitment to careful research, critical analysis, and evidence-based argumentation. This passion is especially evident in his internationally acclaimed Christian apologetics work, Echoes of Jesus: Does the New Testament Reflect What He Said?, a substantial volume containing hundreds of scriptural, historical, and academic citations. The book has been translated into multiple languages and distributed internationally.
In recent years, Jonathan has lectured and taught in Ukraine, speaking to military chaplains, pastors, veterans, seminary students, churches and Christian leaders on topics including moral injury, trauma, forgiving enemies, combat ethics, and the relationship between Christian faith and mental health. His research-driven approach to difficult theological and psychological questions has also contributed to strong endorsements for his forthcoming book, Hating and Forgiving: Violent Crime, Combat, and the Christian Path to Enemy Love, including support from professors in theology and psychology, victims from diverse countries, and Christian military personnel.
A member of Bridgeman Baptist Community Church for more than thirty years, Jonathan writes from the intersection of Christian theology, human suffering, and lived pastoral concern. His public ministry includes speaking engagements, interviews, and published articles.
